JANSEN STYLE BRASS HOOVED FEET COCKTAIL TABLE

1,850.00

Beautiful and timelessly elegant coffee table in lightly antiqued brass ending in six hoof feet and glass top with moulded ogee edge in the style of Maison Jansen.

WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL
Considered the first truly international interior design firm, Maison Jansen was founded in 1880 by Jean-Henri Jansen and is credited as popularizing what is now called Hollywood Regency style.

From its beginning, Maison Jansen combined traditional, historically accurate furnishings in its grand interiors with influences of new trends, including Art Deco, Modernism, and the Ottoman Style. In the 1960’s and 70’s the firm became known for its Modern Regency style pieces. These included mirrored pieces, animal print upholstery, metal furniture, and sleek silhouettes.

Today, the firm is mythologized through its association with the love, power, and tragedy that surrounded its patrons: the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Coco Chanel, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, to name a few. Surviving interiors designed by Jansen for monarchs, dictators, and social doyennes are now the focus of preservation projects and research, while the furniture and objets d’art are sought after and prized by contemporary designers, collectors, and decorative arts scholars alike.
